Mr Roach has been DJing since 1991. He bought his first decks and played house parties around East London, then broke into the clubs in the mid-90s. In 1995 he became one of the original DJs on the East London pirate station Deja Vu FM, broadcasting first on 98.2FM and later on 92.3FM, and stayed with the station until 2005. Deja Vu is still going today at dejavufm.co.
Through the 90s he played raves including Telepathy, Raindance, Suncity and Kiss FM's Bliss, and put out garage productions with the BoomBeat Productions collective. Around 2000 he settled on the name Mr Roach and on the music that has driven him since: deep, soulful and jackin house, with Afro and broken-beat threads running through it.
Today he is a radio broadcaster, club and festival DJ, remixer and promoter, based between London and Brighton and booking UK-wide and internationally.
The live events and promotion side: club nights in London and Brighton, plus the fortnightly Souldeep Takeover on EXT Radio. A separate project with its own nights.
